A year at our school

Season of Performing Arts (SOPA) 2025
The Season of Performing Arts (SOPA) is an annual showcase of performances that highlight the various disciplines of the performing arts at Davidson High School. It is held each year in the week of the June long weekend at Glen Street Theatre, and culminates in six shows over two days. Drama, Dance and Music elective students have the opportunity to perform class devised pieces. The nine ensemble groups also perform their set pieces throughout the program.

HSC Dance Callback
We are so excited to announce that these three students have received Callback nominations for HSC Dance. Chloe L. (Core and Major Performance) Nikita G. (Core Performance) Sienna H. (Core and Major Performance).
We are so incredibly proud of them as this means they received full marks for this component.

Year 11 Camp to Jindabyne
In Week 2, Term 3 - Year 11 journeyed to Jindabyne Sport and Rec camp where they enjoyed a week of skiing and snowboarding in near perfect snow conditions. For many, this was their first time seeing snow! The students got to participate in daily lessons as well as enjoy time on the snow with their friends. It was a wonderful week of bonding for the year group with many life lasting memories made. Thank you also to the amazing group of teachers who made this trip possible by giving up their time to accompany our students.

Year 9 PASS
Year 9 PASS have been participating in an Outdoor Education unit and have demonstrated a lot of curiosity in the survival skill component of the course. They have just completed an assessment task that required them to work together in groups and create a structurally sound A-Frame shelter.
Congratulations to all students who took this task head on and had a bit of fun in the learning environment along the way!

Declan Budd
A MASSIVE congratulations to Declan Budd (Year 12) on qualifying for the World Swimming Championships in Singapore!
Declan earned his Dolphin pin and secured a place on the Australian Para Swim Team recently at the Australian Swimming Trials.
We are incredibly proud of your dedication, determination, and humility. Keep chasing your dreams — the best is yet to come!

Silver Duke of Edinburgh
Student reflection:
"Earlier this year, we began our Silver Duke of Ed trip with a hike to our campsite. We stopped at the Naa Badu Lookout for a lunch break before continuing along the hike. We had many riddles and mind games to keep us thinking and also played a card game which Ms Warwick came last in. When we arrived at Crosslands we had to set up our camp before being taught how to crack whips. Unfortunately the next morning a burst pipe forced us to relocate. We packed up our campsite and went to Berowra waters to go canoeing. We learnt the roles of canoeing which include how the person at the front is the engine who sets the pace, and the person at the back is the steerer. When we’d finished canoeing we had to drive to the entrance of our next campsite on top of a ridge before completing a short hike along a firetrail. When we got there we set up camp and played some more games such as the Stick Game which everyone got involved in. Our final day, we started by taking down camp and hiking to the bus before driving back to Berowra Waters. We had another day on the canoes and this time we paddled up Berowra creek heading in a different direction to the previous day. After learning about Captain Ryan and Skull Rock some people played a game while others went fishing, sadly catching nothing. We wrapped up the trip by packing up and driving home, reflecting on the amazing memories we had created."

Stage Band
Congratulations to the Davidson High School Stage Band who represented their school last Tuesday night and performed at the Lazybones Jazz Lounge in Marrickville as part of their education concert series. Such a great opportunity for our students to experience performing in such an iconic venue. Well done to all members of this ensemble!
