Year 10 Parent Teacher Zoom Interviews

The ongoing COVID 19 situation continues to impact processes and events the school normally engages in. Year 10 into 11 subject selection evening is always a significant event in our calendar along with Parent Teacher interviews. Direction form the NSW Department of Education has made it clear that we are not to hold evenings with parents on site so we have had to create an alternate process to go through the subject selection process.

Below is the schedule for the process;

1. Students receive half yearly reports on Friday 12 June

2. Tuesday 16 June Parent Teacher evening from 3.30 - 7.30pm via zoom.

  • Online bookings are required and open on Friday 5 June and close on Monday 15 June at 2pm. To book online https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/login use code ygmad
  • If parents cannot make that time period they can arrange a phone call at a later date.
  • Staff will email parents the zoom meeting details that they need for each subject. Parents will be held in the waiting room and then invited in at the set time by staff.

3. Wednesday 24 June year 10 will receive their subject selection booklets.

  • Students will be broken up into groups of 20. They will rotate through each faculty where they will be provided information on subjects. They will also meet with Mr Everingham about the different patterns of study and Mrs Ferguson regarding NESA requirements for the Preliminary HSC and HSC.
  • Faculty videos will be uploaded to the parent portal on Wednesday afternoon. Parents can view what subjects are available in each faculty and be provided information on course requirements.

4. Week 10 can provide an opportunity for students to ask staff questions or parents to contact myself, Mr Everingham or Mrs Ferguson about any matters regarding the process.

5. Friday 24 July is the due date for the electronic subject selection forms to be submitted. Details of this aspect of the process will be emailed to all parents with clear instructions.

6. Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 August parents and students are interviewed at school about their subject selections and discuss any issues with the selections.

I certainly understand that this process may not be optimal for everyone but at this point in time I believe it provides parents and students an opportunity to speak to staff and gather information so as to make some informed decisions. By the time we reach term 3 I am hoping that we can bring parents into the school for the proposed family interviews.

As always, if you have a concern or would like to ask a question please feel free to contact me. Staff are very keen to speak to parents and they will provide advice around what levels of Maths, English and Science might be studied by your children.
