Dance is expressive movement with purpose and form. Through dance, students represent, question and celebrate human experience, using the body as the instrument and movement as the medium for personal, social, emotional, spiritual and physical communication.
At Davidson High School, dance is compulsory in Year 7 and is offered as an elective for Years 9 to 12. Students will study contemporary dance, as well as other forms of dance such as musical theatre.
Students in dance have the opportunity to perform in the Season of Performing Arts (SOPA), School Spectacular, and regional dance festivals. In addition to this various dance ensembles and one senior company are also offered.
We offer three ensembles in dance:
- junior dance ensemble
- senior dance ensemble
- dance company
Entry into each ensemble is by audition.
Our ensembles perform in the Sydney North Dance Festival each year, and select students perform at the Schools Spectacular. Our dance company has been selected to perform at the State Dance Festival, an elite showcase of ensemble performances. Dance styles range from contemporary to jazz.
