Visual arts includes the fields of art, craft and design, as well as photography and digital media. Learning in and through these fields, students create visual representations that communicate, challenge and express their own and the ideas of others.
At Davidson High School, we have our own kiln and digital media resources. Students experience different forms of art making and develop perceptual and conceptual understanding, critical reasoning, as well as practical skills through exploring and expanding their understanding.
Visual arts is compulsory in Years 7 and 8, and is offered as an elective for Years 9 to 10. Photography and digital media is also offered as a course in Years 11 and 12.
Art club
Art club is a program available to Years 7 and 8. A qualified visual arts teacher will guide students as they create a range of artworks, including paintings, prints and sculptures.
This program will run over 10 weeks in Semester 1 and a small fee is required to cover materials. During Term 1, students are invited to provide an expression of interest to join the art club program.
