Drama involves students making, performing, analysing and responding to drama, drawing on human experience as a source of ideas.
Students engage with the history of theatre and performance, develop skills in improvisation and group devising, and use materials as they explore a range of forms, styles and contexts.
At Davidson High School, Drama is compulsory in Year 7, and is offered as an elective for Years 9 to 12.
Students in Drama have the opportunity to perform in the Season of Performing Arts (SOPA), Arts Alive and the State Drama Festival. There are many drama performance evenings of entertainment throughout the year and various drama ensembles are also offered.
Drama ensembles
Our ensembles regularly perform at the regional and state drama festivals. They have also toured primary schools and perform in end of year shows. Students learn how to improvise, produce their own plays and perform scripted pieces. We offer three ensembles:
- Junior Drama Ensemble
- Senior Drama Ensemble
Entry into each ensemble is by audition.
